“HOW CAN LIFE BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT FANTASY? THE DREAM IS EVERYTHING” – Diana Vreeland
We created our Dream With Us series to share some of the stories behind the stories we tell. We want these vignettes to inspire you to start and to keep dreaming about life’s milestones and the celebrations yet to come.
MARVEL WITH US
There is so much to marvel at when celebrating one another. The love, support and spirit of coming together to share an experience that forms bonds and memories. And that holds true even when it’s a business soirée. For this gathering of event professionals, we wanted to capture the vibe of a night to be celebrated with bubbles, beauty and bear hugs. The Chroma “marvel” is mounted to foil printed bubbles and meant to be displayed as a reminder to the recipient of the wonderment they create and the dreams they make come true.
ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT
When this b’nai mitzvah popped up on our radar, we wanted to make these two brothers the toast of the town. They both love music, travel and art and wanted us to dream up something expressive and interactive. We created an invitation case made up of several laser cut acrylic panels. Each panel popped out one at a time to reveal the party details piece by piece. And then guests could flip and rotate the panels as desired and put them back in the case to create a unique piece of art. It was better than sliced bread.
BIRTHDAY BUBLÉ
The bubbles were flying for this lucky lady, and not just the champagne variety. To celebrate her 60th birthday, Kelly brought in her favorite performer – the larger than life Michael Bublé. And with the flick of a switch, the design came into full view. We created a Chroma birthday box with layers of bubbles in the form of acrylic panels. Each panel slid out to reveal various party details. When the last panel was removed, the music started. Literally. Mr. Bublé sings Come Fly With Me as a preview of the dreamy, moonlit night to come.
HIGH ON LOVE
Flowers are not only timeless, but their color, texture and composition yield endless forms of dreamy beauty. When this couple shared a floral design that encapsulated the natural elegance they wanted for their wedding, it became the muse for their invitation suite. We hand painted a garden of flowers and arranged them into an artistic backdrop inside the envelope. We then took those same flowers and turned them into a blind embossed illustration for the invitation. When love blooms, our hearts are a flutter.
ICE, ICE BABY
When you want the perfect ice breaker for your bat mitzvah party, you break out some creativity. We encased holographic glitter in an acrylic case to give wintery sparkle to the cracking ice printed on top of the case. The core of the case was carved out where we broke down the details of the celebration. Guests were asked to wear smashing attire for a sweet night of dining and dancing. Love how this client wanted to dive in headfirst into creating a breakout design for their dream party.
DREAMING OF A WINTER WONDERLAND
Sending a bear hug to the ones you love is one of the sweetest ways to spread holiday cheer. We love to work with families to design holiday cards that encapsulate their joy. For this family, their joy is their children. We were given two photos – one shot from the front and one from the back – setting up for the perfect front-to-back card. We swapped out the background for bright green and filled it in with a candy land of holiday dreams and delights. And this year, these words were never truer: wish you were here.
IT’S AN ASTRONOMICAL WORLD
Can you imagine a more enjoyable mission than making a kid feel larger than life? William wanted to create his very own AstroWorld for his bar mitzvah invitation, inspired by Travis Scott’s triple platinum hip hop album. The re-imagined album cover designed his world replete with a vibrant rainbow of color. By employing clever printing techniques on acrylic we created perceptible depth, along with the added dimension of our signature Chroma for the rollercoaster. And thus, William World was launched. Who doesn’t want to create a dream world all their own?
SPOOKY SWEET, CHOCOLATE TREAT
How often do you get to break something on purpose? In this case, our client literally wanted to break the mold – a chocolate mold invitation to be exact. To celebrate her husband’s birthday on Halloween, at Disney, we created a milk chocolate skull box that guests had to bust open to reveal the invitation details. All eyes (and mouse ears) were on the prize inside! Each box was entirely edible and also filled with candy, as one dreams on Halloween. It was a smashing success by all accounts.
GARDEN OF CELEBRATION
There is a fairyland of blooming trees, cascading vines, and romantic blossoms in the heart of Chicago that is filled with inspiration. A garden that witnesses dreams come true on the reg. And so, we brought it to life for our modern couple. A suite of uniquely cut, foiled cards layered to reveal wedding details bit by bit inside a grey aspen tray. But the universe had other plans when it delivered up a pandemic. Not to fret -- the love from their nearest and dearest ballooned. And while the garden changed, the joy was vivid as ever.
CULTIVATE KINDNESS
We give kindness the green light! We created this design and important message for David Beahm, known for his trademark lavish flower creations, to convey the spirit that embodies David and his team's unwavering graciousness and mindfulness. David sent wildflower seeds to share his love of flowers with his peeps and loyal clients. We laser cut a dreamy flower and then popped up the petals to let the design bloom. The seeds were tucked away underneath. A beautiful reminder to take care of each other and watch kindness spread like wildflowers.
SUNBEAMS AND DREAMS
When your best friend is a ray of sunshine, you throw her a bachelorette party that will have her beaming forever! Setting sail on a private yacht for ten days to cruise the French Riviera required a design that captured this heavenly experience. The gold foiled invitation and map were encased in a double door pink acrylic box with Chroma sunbeams. A forever keepsake to remember the sweetest and dreamiest days with friends. And it made you the coolest cat on the planet besides.
OUT OF THIS WORLD
Inspiration can come from anywhere and it can lead to out-of-this-world thinking. When this client came to us, she wanted to push boundaries and take guests by surprise using her favorite sculptor, Ingrid Donat, as her muse. Ringing in her son’s bar mitzvah became a literal aspect of the design. We created a custom invitation case with a laser cut pattern of rings providing fun reveals of what was to be discovered inside. We love to let ideas and dreams breed like rabbits and transport you to new orbits.
SOME ENCHANTED EVENING
“Some enchanted evening, when you find your true love…” Hammerstein’s lyrics set the mood for this modern couple getting married on an elegant New York estate. The lovebirds married at Oheka Castle where the lush gardens and stately decor inspired the blind embossed botanicals of the invitation, framed in rose gold Chroma. The diagonal shape pays homage to the peaks of the Castle’s architecture. Literally a high point because we love a couple who isn’t afraid to break from tradition. “You do you” is always a wise move. Dream your own dream.
LET THE JOURNEY UNFOLD
A life well-lived has many layers. And should you decide to escape to the mountains with your nearest and dearest to celebrate your first 70 years of life, then we believe the journey should unfold in layers too. For this intimate party in Vermont, we created a unique way to reveal the sentiment and the details by using the backdrop of the venue's 300 acres of rolling hills. Guests were asked to get away and escape to revel in nature, trip the senses, party hardy and open the soul. A dream scenario worth embracing.
LARGER THAN LIFE
That is how you describe a man who needs TWO parties to celebrate his 50th birthday. Yes, five decades, two nights, and one hot summer weekend in New York City. Plus, he’s from Texas so you go big or you go home. His initials being AB, we created a modern two-part design with an invitation for Party A the first night and one for Party B on the second night. The weekend sizzled and everyone had a monster of a good time. Dream big people. Go for the gold and silver!
JOIE DE VIVRE
Joie de vivre: the joy of living. It’s summer in the Hamptons where Cartier and rosé go hand in hand at Wölffer Estate. Bringing friends together to soak-up these sunny, breezy, dream-like days meant capturing the mood in a bright, fierce way. We went round (like the sun), used our signature gold Chroma and added laser cut details. But our favorite detail is how the invitation was designed to double as a memento, to be kept and displayed as a reminder to enjoy life.
THE SWEETEST LOVE
The couple lives in Zürich, hires an event planner in Germany, plans to marry at Villa Balbiano on Lake Como in Italy (amazeballs) and works with us in the USA to tell their story. An epic international collaboration to make a dream come true. The only direction: roses and rosé. If these aren’t the nectar of life, not sure what is? We created a dreamy design and sent the invitations all over the world. Everything was humming right along and then Covid hit. Plans changed but love prevailed. The birds still sang and the sweetest couple ever were wed.
THE WORLD IS YOUR RUNWAY
Coco Chanel once said, “Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway.” So girl, strut your stuff (and wear whatever you want!). One of our favorite former brides called on us for her daughter’s ChanELLE-themed bat mitzvah and in her words, “…we want something delicate and beautiful.” Can you smell the endless possibilities? A signature shape and a beveled edge made this save the date show-worthy. But the invitation that followed, made this party in Florida go-worthy. As Coco says, “To achieve great things, we must first dream.” I am woman, hear me roar.
PARTY LIKE A KING
Party like a king. Is there any other way to party? This kid loves hip hop. In fact, we made him feel like the King of Hip Hop and created an illustration of him in full royal head gear inspired by the 1997 “King of New York” photo shoot with Notorious B.I.G. Because we all know a bar mitzvah is a crowning moment. There was also a subtle homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat. What a way for Jesse to invite his flock to his bar mitzvah party in New York City. It was so fly to dream this up with him.
